Everyone thinks that if you have a website you will be very successful.  The truth is that it is important to have a website so you can market yourself and win business over competing businesses in your area.  I have outlined some important information that you need, to have a very strong website that will help you gain business.

1. Optimize Your Website

Search engines are the #1 way to get free traffic and all you have to do is optimize your website.  You are going to want to optimize your website with on-page optimization and also for maps.

OnPage – Title Tags, Meta tags (even though they are not important anymore), h1 tags, h2 tags, descriptive content, focused content per page to create relevancy.  This will make search engines understand what your business is about and can rank it accordingly.

Maps – Since you are a business you may have noticed that search engines have been focusing on maps.  Well the reason is because they realize people are very interested in finding a business that is  close to them for the service they need completed.

The way to optimize for maps you will need to build your citations on reputable sources.  Here is a list of places you can claim your maps listings.

2. Attention Grabbing Promotion

Everybody loves a great deal.  Think about what is going on nowadays.  Groupon & Living social.  People love saving money.  So when you are selling your service make sure you offer them a discounted price.  Of course make sure that you have a expiration date to make some urgency.  If you cannot afford putting a promotion on your products increase your base price and put a discount on that.

 3. Showcase Your Work

Let’s face it.  You have given the user a great user experience by offering all of the above the last thing that is missing is a showcase of your work.  If you are a contractor or plastic surgeon, before you get any business I guarantee you they will want to look at your work.  Think about it this way.  If you are shopping for a kitchen contractor what is the first thing you are going to want to see?  A Portfolio!
